Braehead cruise to home win in front of television cameras
A hat-trick from Bobby Chaumont helped Braehead Clan hammer Dundee Stars 5-1 in a Scottish derby televised
live on Sky Sports.
Having already beaten their compatriots earlier in the season, the Clan continued their dominance to secure two important Elite League and Challenge Cup points.
However they were forced to come from behind on home soil, player-coach Dan Ceman giving Dundee a shock lead in the first period.
The Stars, who had goaltender Ladislav Kudrna between the pipes for the first time, held onto that advantage until midway through the second - Chaumont's first of the night coming with Braehead shorthanded.
Blasting home
A second soon followed for the hosts, Ryan Campbell blasting home a loose puck to put the Clan 2-1 ahead at the interval.
The third period saw them keep up the pressure and it was no surprise when a powerplay opportunity led to a second for Chaumont at 49.54.
Just eight seconds later a fourth arrived courtesy of Brendan Cook, who took his goal superbly, putting the game firmly beyond Dundee.
Chaumont secured his treble in the closing stages before the game was bizarrely held up for a few minutes after some plexi-glass fell on top of the Clan bench, injuring Campbell.
