CM Punk punished for verbal attack on WWE's owner Vince McMahon on Monday Night RAW.
Verbal assault costs Straightedge Superstar
CM Punk shocked the wrestling world after he launched an incredible verbal attack on WWE's owner Vince McMahon on Monday Night RAW, the outcome of which resulted in Punk being suspended by the company chairman.
The Straightedge Superstar closed Monday's edition of Raw with one of the most controversial promos in the history of the show.
Punk, who is set to leave the company after the upcoming Money in the Bank event in three week's time, delivered a tirade of abuse directly aimed at company chairman Vince McMahon.
After helping R-Truth in defeating John Cena in the night's main event, Punk began his speech by addressing a suffering Cena. Punk stated it was the fact that Cena is regarded as the best wrestler in WWE that frustrated him.
Punk referred to himself as the World's Number one wrestler, saying "I've been the best ever since day one when I walked into this company and I've been vilified and hated since that day because Paul Heyman saw something in me that nobody else wanted to admit.
"That's right - I'm a Paul Heyman guy. You know who else was a Paul Heyman guy? Brock Lesnar, and he split, just like I'm splitting.
"The fact that Dwayne is in the main event at WrestleMania next year and I'm not makes me sick."
Punk talked himself up, slammed the fact he is not a poster boy for the company and reiterated his intentions to leave the firm with the WWE title on July 17.
He said: "I'm leaving with the WWE championship on July 17 and who knows; maybe I'll go and defend it in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Maybe I'll go back to Ring of Honor."
Then, in a shocking statement regarding the future of WWE as a company, Punk said "I'd like to think that maybe this company will be better after Vince McMahon is dead."
Earlier today, WWE's official website broke the news that McMahon has suspended CM Punk from the company. The article included a quote from McMahon, which read: "CM Punk was suspended indefinitely for his unprofessional conduct as soon as Raw went off the air.
