Ring announcer Justin Roberts has left WWE after the company opted not to extend his contract.
Roberts carried out his regular duties on Monday’s episode of Raw in Atlanta, including announcing the main event, Contract on a Pole Match between Dean Ambrose and John Cena.
“WWE has chosen to not exercise its option to renew ring announcer Justin Roberts' contract,” said a statement on WWE’s official website. “WWE wishes him the best in all his future endeavors.”
Roberts began announcing for the Chicago-based Pro Wrestling International at the age of 16, before heading to other independent promotions such as American Wrestling Alliance and All Pro Wrestling.
The Illinois-born star joined WWE in 2002 and became Raw announcer in 2009, while he was the sole ring announcer at WrestleMania 27 in 2011, a show main evented by John Cena and The Miz.
