Roman Reigns wins on in-ring return; Rusev attacks Ryback

Dolph Ziggler coped with interference from J&J Security to defeat Seth Rollins on Tuesday night’s live Smackdown.

The Show-Off was targeted by Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble during the main-event match on the blue brand’s 800th episode, having challenged the Aerialist to the bout earlier in the evening.

But before the referee could eject Rollins’ bodyguards, Ziggler clocked his rival with a Zig Zag to continue on an epic roll which has seen him become the sole survivor at Survivor Series and regain the Intercontinental Championship from Luke Harper.

Ziggler dared Rollins to face him after Rusev’s assault on Ryback – The Super Athlete blasted The Big Guy with two brutal superkicks – left the Sin City powerhouse unable to fight Mr Money in the Bank.

Rollins – who had earlier revealed that he orchestrated Brock Lesnar’s beat-downs of Chris Jericho and John Cena on Raw – was left ruing his change off opponent when Ziggler pinned him at the end of the show, but another former Shield star had little trouble winning his match against Fandango.

Reigns, wresting for the first time since undergoing hernia surgery in September, shellacked the twinkle-toed ballroom dancer with a Superman punch-spear combo to pick up a convincing victory.

Scuffle

Dean Ambrose, previously the third-prong in the all-conquering Shield, took to the microphone to tell Bray Wyatt that their war was from over following their Tables, Ladders and Chairs scrap on Sunday.

But Wyatt – who was victorious at the weekend after a television monitor blew sparks into Ambrose’s face – seemed delighted by that news, vowing to continue fighting until “it all burns down”.

Erick Rowan and The Usos defeated WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz and Damien Mizdow and dethroned Intercontinental Champion Harper in a cracking six-man scuffle.

But Jimmy Uso and The Miz bickered while the former’s wife, Naomi, fought Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship – and their arguing caused Naomi to become distracted and lose to Bella via pinfall.

Plus, Kane conquered Adam Rose in double quick time with a Chokeslam, before hitting The Bunny – wearing a neck brace after he was clobbered by The Big Red Monster on Raw – with another Tombstone Piledriver.

Watch the repeat of WWE Smackdown, 10pm, Friday, Sky Sports 3 (channel 404).
