Elise Christie added a 1,000m silver to her 1,500m bronze at the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Seoul on Sunday.

The Sky Academy Sports Scholar, who was narrowly beaten in the final of the 1500m on Saturday, maintained her fine form to stay in the top two throughout the race before being beaten to line by South Korea's Minjeong Choi.

The 25-year-old Scot later qualified for the 3,000m Super Final, finishing third  to secure an overall world ranking of third.

Great Britain's overall performance means they will now qualify for three ladies positions at the World Championships in 2017.

"It didn't all go to plan at this championships but I am walking away with a silver and a bronze medal in the individuals and third place ranking overall," said Christie.

"It's brought a tough year to a close and now we will head back home, review the season and look for the elements to improve on next year."

The only disappointment of the weekend was a quarter-final exit in the 500m, but overall it was another fine show from the rising star on the ice.

It rounded up an incredible couple of months for Christie who has won three golds at four World Cup events and bagged four European golds in Sochi in January.

Elsewhere, Jack Whelbourne failed to qualify from the 1,000m quarter-finals, but finished ninth overall after a fifth-place finish in the 500m and sixth in the 1500m on Saturday. Charlotte Gilmartin also failed to qualify for the 1,000m and finished 10th overall.

Nicky Gooch, Christie's coach and head coach of GB Short Track, said: "I'm really proud of the way the athletes performed.

"Charlotte Gilmartin has made big progress throughout the season and Jack Whelbourne has shown great resilience to overcome injury and perform with so little preparation.

"Although perhaps missing some opportunities to walk away with gold, Elise has still had the best World Championships of her career to date."
