Charlotte Dujardin, the 2014 Sportswoman of the Year, won two gold medals at the European dressage championships in Aachen, Germany, this year.

In August, Dujardin successfully defended her Grand Prix special dressage title. The 30-year-old and her Olympic and world championship-winning horse Valegro produced a score of 87.577%, just shy of their world record of 88.022%.

Home favourite Kristina Broring-Sprehe (on Desperados FRH) won silver (83.067%) while Dutch rider Hans Peter Minderhoud (on Glock's Johnson TN) was third (79.034%). British teammate Carl Hester was fifth on board Nip Tuck (77.003%).

A day later Dujardin made it double gold. In the showpiece freestyle test, which is performed to personalised music, Broring-Sprehe set a tough standard to beat with a score of 88.804%. But despite a few errors, Dujardin recorded 89.054% for victory.

Dujardin also won a silver medal as Britain finished behind Netherlands in the team event.

Elsewhere this year, Dujardin retained her World Cup title in Las Vegas. Back in April, she performed a stunning freestyle routine on Valegro that scored 94.196% - just outside the world record she set at the 2014 London International Horse Show.

The Londoner, who is based in Gloucestershire, is the dominant dressage rider of her era, the only person to hold world, Olympic and European elite titles.
