Adrian Lewis and Kevin Painter have both been handed suspensions by the Darts Regulation Authority.

Duo handed suspensions for bad behaviour

Adrian Lewis and Kevin Painter have both been handed suspensions by the Darts Regulation Authority, although they are both free to play in the upcoming World Matchplay in Blackpool. Lewis and Painter were disqualified for their behaviour during their quarter-final meeting at the Open Holland Masters in April and reported to the DRA. After looking over the charges, the DRA have handed out a six-month suspension to 'Jackpot' Lewis, but with four of those months suspended, along with a fine of £400. Lewis was found guilty of using offensive language, using threatening behaviour towards an opponent and recklessly disregarding the tournament director's instructions. Painter has also been charged with the same offences and he has been banned for three months, two of those suspended, and handed a £200 fine. 'The Artist' was also handed a further fine of £100 for using offensive language during the Antwerp Darts Trophy also in April. With the duo confirming that they plan to appeal against the suspensions, they are both free to take their place in the World Matchplay in Blackpool, which starts on Sunday. Regardless of the appeal outcome both men will now have to be on their best behaviour in the coming months as any repeat could lead to a more hardline approach. Meanwhile, Raymond van Barneveld was also on the wrong end of some disciplinary action as he was fined £250 for his behaviour during the UK Open in June.
