Ray Parlour told Soccer AM about the time Tony Adams 'wrote' a song for him!
The former England and Arsenal players shared a room together during away games and Parlour revealed that things got a bit weird when Adams suddenly became all 'scientific'!
The new Portsmouth manager's change of attitude shocked many of his team mates and none more so than Parlour.
"I roomed with Tony for ten years and I love him, he's my best mate in football probably," he said. "But we went from closing the curtains at seven o'clock and trying to get rid of our hangovers from two days before, to Tony going all scientific!
"He started reading literature to me and poems and I'd be like 'Tony we've got a big game tomorrow mate and you're reading me a poem, you're supposed to be kicking the players!'"
But being read poems was the least of Parlour's problems after Adams revealed he wanted to play his roommate a song!
"He goes 'look I've learnt the piano' and I said 'fantastic Tone, I'm really pleased for you' but I didn't think anything of it and then he said 'give me eight to ten weeks and I'll do a song for you'!
"So being sociable I said 'Tone if you want to do me a song I'll be happy to listen to it and I'll give you marks out of ten'. Anyway eight or nine weeks into the season and we were playing away somewhere and Tony pulls up in his car, opens his boot and brings out a big organ!
"He says to me 'make sure you're there, nine o'clock in the room, I'll get all setup, tuned in and ready to go'. So nine o'clock I get in the room and get in bed and there he is tuning up and I'm thinking he could be a bit of a Mozart here, he could be really good you know!
"Then he says 'are you ready' and I was like 'yeah I'm ready Tone' and do you know what he played me? We'll be coming around the mountains when we come!"
