Merv - No Taylor needle

Mervyn King told Sky Sports News his spat with Phil Taylor is all water under the bridge.

Mervyn King insists his spat with Phil Taylor is all water under the bridge, as he puts his unbeaten Premier League record on the line against Raymond van Barneveld in Manchester on Thursday.

King pulled out a 7-7 draw against Taylor last week to preserve his unbeaten start to Premier League life, but 'The Power' was not a happy man after the game.

Despite King missing darts for the match and letting Taylor off the hook, the 14-time world champion was enraged by his rival throwing a dart over his head.

Taylor stooped to gather a dropped dart after his throw, and King launched one of his own spears over Taylor - a lack of darts etiquette that did not sit well with the Stoke thrower.

Although there is obviously needle between the two, King is sticking to his line that there are no ill feelings - at least on his part.

No needle

"That's all over and done with, it doesn't concern me one bit," King told Sky Sports News.

"There's no needle there at all, at least not as far as I'm concerned."

King's proud unbeaten run is now on the line against Barney at the MEN Arena and the Dutchman should provide another huge test.

Despite it being his debut season, King has been the best player in the Premier League so far and is delighted with his start.

"It's one of those things that you dream about, my start in the Premier League, going up there and getting the result that I have."

Jenks desperate

While King is unbeaten, Terry Jenkins is still searching for a first win of the campaign as he goes up against James Wade.

Jenkins has been the draw specialist during the tournament but has lost the last two, while Wade has three wins on the spin despite having mixed form.

"James has been playing a bit up and down recently, but players always seem to have their up games and not their down games against me," said Jenkins.

"I suppose I should take it as a bit of a compliment, as players know they need to take out the big shots and hit the big scores.

"But I'm not worrying about anyone else, I'll just play the board as I always do."
