Skysports.com continues its look back at the highlights from 'The Grandest Stage Of Them All', with the focus now switching to a period of transition.
The federation's elder statesmen increasingly found themselves challenged by the new breed of brawlers.
Wrestling adapted accordingly and reached new heights with innovations including the introduction of Ladder Matches televised for the first time.
So join us as we take a look back at the action from WrestleMania IX to 2000.
WRESTLEMANIA IX
Royal Rumble winner Yokozuna challenged Bret 'The Hitman' Hart for the WWE title at the top of the bill at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas.
Undertaker had earlier kept his winning streak going with a disqualification win against Giant Gonzalez, while Shawn Michaels retained his Intercontinental belt despite going down to a count-out defeat to Tatanka.
The main event saw Hart cheated out of his gold by Yokozuna's manager Mr Fuji throwing salt in his eyes when he had the Sharpshooter submission locked in.
Hulk Hogan came out to protest, though, and an impromptu challenge for the new championship saw the Hulkster hit a clothesline and the leg drop to claim the title in a spectacular 21 seconds of action at the end of the show.
WRESTLEMANIA X
Yokozuna reclaimed the WWE title at King of the Ring 1993, though, and went on to successfully defend his title against Lex Luger as 'Mania returned to Madison Square Garden.
Bret Hart then went on to bounce back from his shock defeat to baby brother Owen in the first televised match of the night and beat Yokozuna to reclaim the title.
Michaels and Razor Ramon stole the show, though, in the federation's first-ever televised Ladder Match with the Intercontinental title at stake.
HBK might have come out on the losing end, but the sight of him leaping from atop the ladder is a visual that will forever be etched in the minds of WWE fans.
WRESTLEMANIA XI
Owen Hart went on to form a potent partnership with his brother's foe Yokozuna and the duo defeated The Smoking Gunns to win the Tag Team titles in Hartford, Connecticut.
Undertaker extended 'The Streak' to 4-0 with victory over King Kong Bundy and The Hitman' beat Bob Backlund in an 'I quit' match officiated by the less than objective 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper.
Diesel and Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson celebrated victory over HBK and his escort Jenny McCarthy in WWE championship action.
But it was former New York Giants Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor that made the biggest impact by defeating Bam Bam Bigelow in his ring debut.
WRESTLEMANIA XII
'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and Triple H made their WrestleMania debuts on the undercard in Anaheim, California, with mixed results.
The Texas Rattlesnake got the better of Savio Vega, while The Game went down to returning legend the Ultimate Warrior.
Undertaker vanquished Diesel to keep his winning run going and Piper overwhelmed Goldust in a Hollywood Backlot Brawl that ended with the latter stripped down to reveal he was wearing women's underwear.
Michaels' Sweet Chin Music finisher secured the WWE championship, meanwhile, with the Showstopper coming out on top in a 60-minute Iron Man Match that went into overtime and was voted the greatest 'Mania match in history in 2004.
WRESTLEMANIA 13
Stone Cold's Submission Match defeat to Bret Hart typified the direction the federation was now taking as the bloodied Austin passed out in the sharpshooter after a vicious no holds barred brawl.
Austin won the crowd that day but it was Undertaker who headlined, winning his second WWE championship in a No Disqualification Match triumph over Sycho Sid.
Future People's Champion The Rock made his WrestleMania debut, under the ring name Rocky Maivia, retaining his Intercontinental title with victory over The Sultan.
And Triple H notched his first 'Mania win against Goldust, while Legion of Doom and Ahmed Johnson overcame the Nation of Domination (Crush, Faarooq and Savio Vega) in a six-man Chicago street fight.
WRESTLEMANIA XIV
Tag team favourites Legion of Doom returned to win a 15-team battle royal at the top of the show in Boston, Massachusetts.
Incontinental champion The Rock and European champion Triple H also graced the undercard to keep their championships, with D-Generation X in full pomp.
Undertaker required three tombstone piledrivers to overcome his brother Kane in an epic clash between the giants of the squared-circle.
But it was Stone Cold's first WWE championship title win against HBK, secured with a Stunner, that made the biggest headlines with special guest referee Mike Tyson counting the 1-2-3 to seal Austin's biggest win.
