The Miz proves to be a stern test for The Ultimate Opportunist
Rated-R Superstar Edge squared off against The Miz on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
With one eye on WrestleMania, Royal Rumble winner Edge looked to improve his game against the one man who not only carries the United States Championship, but is also one half of the Unified Tag Team Champions, The Miz.
Decorated from head to toe in championship gold, The Miz proved to be a stern test for The Ultimate Opportunist on the latest edition of SmackDown.
The two superstars had never faced each other in a match until now, and in the end the exciting main event climaxed with the nine-time world champion spearing Miz to secure the all important victory.
The outcome will no doubt come as a huge boost to The Rated-R Superstar who now appears now to be gathering momentum at the right time.
Just 30 days remain until the biggest event of the year, WrestleMania, where Edge will endeavour to win his 10th world title against bitter rival Chris Jericho.
Opportunity
Also this week on SmackDown, seven Superstars competed in two singles matches and one Triple Threat Match to earn the opportunity of participating in this year's Money in the Bank Ladder Match at WrestleMania.
By the night's end, Dolph Ziggler, Kane and Shelton Benjamin all defeated their respective opponents and are now on their way to compete on The Grandest Stage of Them All.
Just five days after Team Lay-Cool defeated Divas Champion Maryse and Gail Kim at the Elimination Chamber event, Michelle McCool invoked her rematch clause to face Women's Champion Mickie James for the Women's championship.
Official SmackDown Consultant Vicky Guerrero refereed the match which ended in controversial circumstances.
However those circumstances will be of no concern to McCool, who struck a devastating kick to the head of Mickie to become the new Women's champion.
