Sky Poker sends another player to Las Vegas!

Tikay reviews the action from the Viva Las Vegas final as Darren 'lufc1982' Prince qualifies for the WSOP

Sunday May 2nd saw the second of three Viva Las Vegas Finals take place on SkyPoker.com & what a Final it was! 19 runners took their seats, meaning one £10,000 package was up for grabs, which included return flights for two to Las Vegas, a suite at the world-famous Rio Hotel, enough money to enter the WSOP $10,000 Main Event, & a bunch of spending money. Second place was quite tasty, too - a cool £9,000 - £ not $! - but third place was to get zilch, zero, nothing, not a penny, or even a cent. Tough game, poker! Testifying to the wonderful unpredictability of Tournament poker, online hotpot "sparce" was a very early casualty, as he trod a thin line trying to amass a bullying stack, & the dreadfully unlucky "DrMarbles" was coolered twice, the first time when his Aces ran into A-7 on a flop of 7-7-8. Whoops. The early & impressive leader was "scw", but his luck changed dramatically, & he exited 15th. "Cottlad" & "SirPingu" both impressed with their uber-aggro play, but both perished before the field was reduced to single figures. Soon a clear leader emerged in "OOOOOOOOOO" (that is ten "O"'s!), & he dutifully performed the Chip Leaders responsibility to bully & batter the field mercilessly, & soon there were just three remaining, with Ox10 still battering them, which is probably optimal if you have, as he did, half the chips in play. Meanwhile, "lufc1982" has been quietly biding his time, as had "direwolf", & now things took a dramatic twist. "lufc1982" made a spectacularly brave call for all his chips with the raggiest of rag aces - A-2 - & was correct, doubling up, & inflicting he first real hit on the Chip Daddy. Direwolf was next to take on Ox10, same result, & one hand later The Chip Daddy was now lufc1982, & Ox10 was toast. Heads up play intrigued for a while, until "lufc" made a very brave but ultimately correct stand with pocket sixes on a flop of 7-4-10, & "Direwolf" was caught with his hands in the till after bluffing with J-9 which failed to improve. Oddly, lufc1982 had pocket sixes no less than 6 times in the Tourney, & it was 6th time lucky eventually. The Final was covered Live on Channel 865, the home of SkyPoker.com which broadcasts 24/7, & featured an extraordinary run of "big on big" - A-A ran into K-K no less than 5 times! Winner lufc1982 is Daren Prince, from Filey in North Yorkshire, who is a Landscape Gardener by trade. Needless to say, he is 28 years old & a Leeds United supporter! It will be his Las Vegas debut, & he is counting the days to the trip of a lifetime with Team Sky Poker, who have a superb record in the World HQ of poker. He has been loyal to SlyPoker.com since he signed up just over 2 years ago, & qualified for the Semi-Final & then Final via an Online Super Satellite for just £13. Darren will, in fact, be playing in this Saturday's Sky Poker Tour Leg 4 in Glasgow, where he will get the chance to meet his fellow Team Sky Poker players, & chill with the Sky Poker community. There will be one more Viva Las Vegas monthly Final on Sky Poker.com, on May 30th, & daily satellites will run throughout May, starting from as little as £1.45. By odd chance, three of the first four of the Sky Poker.com team who have so far qualified to go to Las Vegas this year are from Yorkshire. It's the secret of Online Poker success - move to Yorkshire! http://www.skypoker.com/tikay
