Punk joins the Nexus

CM Punk shocked the world on the final Monday Night RAW of 2010.

This week, John Cena kicked off WWE's flagship programme by inviting CM Punk to air his grievances on the WWE Superstar of the Year.

And it didn't take long for the former arrogant Straight Edge Society leader to air his opinions which were met by deafening boos from the crowd.

Soon after Cena called out the self-righteous Superstar, Punk defended The Nexus as well as Vickie Guerrero and voiced that WWE's Superstar of the Year was nothing more than a bully who could not adhere to his word.

Despite the two having a difference of opinion, both men agreed to face each other in a match later in the night.

Prior to the match, Cena was confronted by Nexus loyalist David Otunga, who suspiciously offered to bury the hatchet in the new year. He even proclaimed that Nexus was under new management.

After having his request turned down by Cena, Otunga and his Nexus cohorts attacked, leaving a Nexus armband in the ring.

As a battered Cena lay helpless in the ring, Nexus exited and CM Punk entered. The Straightedge Superstar proceeded to nail Cena with a GTS, then slipped the Nexus armband on himself, signalling that Punk may in-fact be the new ringleader of the black and yellow army.

Victorious

The Number one contender to the WWE Championship John Morrison faced off against Alex Riley to earn the right to name the time and type of title match against The Miz.

Should The Shaman of Sexy lose, he would forfeit his title opportunity all together. With so much at stake, Morrison held his nerve and in the end notched up yet another impressive display to emerge victorious.

After the match, he then informed his former tag team partner that their title bout will take place next week live on RAW and will be a Falls Count Anywhere Match.

For the second week running, Jerry "The King" Lawler upset WWE Champion The Miz. This week, the RAW announcer triumphed in a non-title match by count-out when John Morrison distracted his former tag team partner and prompted The Awesome One to lose after a ten count.

Also on RAW, WWE Tag Team Champion Santino Marella defeated Ted DiBiase. Afterwards, the fan favourite and his lady friend, Tamina, unleashed double Cobras on DiBiase and his girlfriend, Maryse.
