Brownfield at her prolific best as Lightning pay for sluggish start

Hertfordshire Mavericks went top of the FIAT Netball Superleague with a 55-38 win over Loughborough Lightning. Louisa Brownfield scored 15 points in the first quarter as the Mavericks raced into a 20-9 lead, much to the delight of the home fans at Hertfordshire Sports Village in Hatfield. Brownfield hit 86.7 percent of her shots and went on to finish the match with 39 points, while Monique Wood chipped in with 16 points from 21 attempts. "I think our first quarter was really impressive today and it's something we have been working on we wanted to put our mark out there and come out really strong," said Brownfield.

Frustrated

Lightning player-coach Olivia Murphy was frustrated by her side's slow start. "We keep having dodgy first quarters and it's killing us in games," she said. "We're making too many errors, making things too difficult when we just need to keep things simple. The individual errors are costing us."
