Director Morgan Spurlock dropped by Soccer AM to talk about his latest film and his love for Stoke City!
Director has supersize love for Stoke
It's not easy following Stoke City when you live in America, just ask Morgan Spurlock!
The 'Supersize Me' director has been supporting the Potters ever since his last appearance on
Soccer AM, five years ago.
In that time Tony Pulis' side have gone from strength to strength, with last season's FA Cup final appearance among the highlights.
However, Spurlock says even watching such a high-profile match as that can be a challenge in the USA.
"I was very unhappy when they lost to Manchester City in the final game last season, it broke my little heart," he told Helen and Max.
"And the thing was I couldn't get it in English in the United States. It was only playing on the Spanish language channel, so I was actually watching the game being broadcast in Spanish in my apartment!"
Product placement
Since he last graced the orange sofas, Spurlock has made a film adaptation of the bestselling book, 'Freakonomics', worked with legendary comic book creator Stan Lee and spent a month in prison for his TV series '30 Days'!
His new documentary 'The Greatest Movie Ever Sold' saw him tackle the subject of product placement, marketing and advertising in films.
The 40-year-old approached hundreds of companies to be part of the film, but as he revealed, some were more interested than others!
He said: "I called Abercrombie & Fitch to be the 'greatest clothes you'll ever wear' before Ted Baker agreed to be the suit and the woman on the phone said 'do you want me to tell you why you're not Abercrombie material?'
"And I said 'yes' and she said 'fine - you're not an attractive man. In fact you're very ugly, you're pretty funny looking, you're going bald, you're losing your hair and we sell clothes, not pornography, and that moustache on your face... we would never put that in an ad'.
"So it was pretty awful! She really gave it to me! I was a bit hurt by it!"
