Bad News Barrett is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery on his injured shoulder.

The British Superstar picked up his ailment at the Smackdown tapings in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, June 24 when he was thrown into the barricade by Jack Swagger.

The operation went very well and he’s resting comfortably.

Barrett subsequently had to sit out the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was scheduled to be part of the WWE World Heavyweight Title Contract Ladder Match.

The Preston-born grappler’s condition then led to him being stripped of the Intercontinental Title on Raw, but he is now recuperating at home ahead of a return to the squared circle.

“Bad News Barrett underwent a ligament reconstruction on his shoulder as well as a distal clavicle resection, where the end of the collar bone is shaved off,” said WWE physician Dr Chris Amann. “The operation went very well and he’s resting comfortably.”

Barrett won the Intercontinental Championship by beating Big E at the Extreme Rules event in May, but the Englishman’s injury woe could now allow the latter to re-scoop the belt.
