Table-toppers Surbiton and Clifton meet in Women’s Hockey League Premier Division

The top two teams in the Investec Women’s Hockey League Premier Division will meet this weekend, with table-topping Surbiton heading to Bristol to face Clifton on Saturday.
Boasting both the best attack and meanest defence in the division so far, Surbiton are top only on goal difference with Clifton breathing down their necks.
“We have a lot of belief compared with previous years,” said Surbiton's Georgie Twigg. “We have a lot of penalty corner threats with Giselle Ansley and Chloe Strong we have such different types of attacking players, selection is so difficult because we have so many good players. It’s a great problem to have. We know goals will come with the ability we have in the group, it’s really exciting.
“After the first game we were worried teams would all set up to stifle us but our games have been really good this season. It’s been great for the league that games are close. We know we have to go out and score goals as champions but it’s a lot of fun trying to do that.”
A late goal salvaged a draw for Canterbury against Clifton last weekend, and the Kent side could overtake them if they beat Buckingham at home.
Holcombe are also unbeaten so far, and they entertain Leicester. Reading bagged their first league win of the season against Buckingham on Sunday, and they go to Bowdon Hightown in search of more points.
Meanwhile, bottom of the table Beeston play host to the University of Birmingham.
Elsewhere Slough take on Trojans in the Investec Conference West, and will want to preserve the only remaining 100 per cent record in the division. Gloucester City could take over at the top if Slough slip up and they beat Swansea City.
Leaders Brooklands Poynton take on Sutton Coldfield in the Investec Conference North, while second-placed Wakefield play fourth-placed Whitley Bay and Tynemouth at College Grove.
In the Investec Conference East leaders East Grinstead have a Sussex derby at Horsham, second-placed Sevenoaks are at Maidenhead while the only other unbeaten team, St Albans entertain Ipswich.
