Straightedge Superstar does the business to win heavyweight gold

Having come through a gruelling Samoan Strap Match against Umaga earlier in the night at Extreme Rules, CM Punk finally cashed in his Money In The Bank championship contract. For months Jeff Hardy has been struggling to win back the world heavyweight championship belt from Edge. When he finally managed to do so, with victory in a stunning one-on-one Ladder Match, it seemed all that work had finally paid off. Both contenders had put their bodies on the line throughout, though, and Hardy's celebrations were cut short when the Straightedge Superstar Punk quickly capitalised. After using the championship opportunity he won at WrestleMania to challenge the newly-crowned title holder, he hit a double dose of Go To Sleep to easily put the exhausted Hardy away. The triumph was Punk's second of the night in New Orleans after earlier overcoming the odds to beat The Samoan Bulldozer Umaga. The two have been feuding for more than a month, with the 350-pound brute continually thwarting Punk's hopes regaining gold. But Punk somehow managed to drag his opponent to three corners of the ring in their Samoan Strap Match, before hitting the Go To Sleep to get the last ringpost in succession and wrap up the win.
