Tees and Hartlepool Yacht club are encouraging more to get involved for National Inclusion Week

The sailing and yachting experience is on the rise in the north of England, as more people continue to take up water sports.

Nearly 20 years after its formation, the Tees and Hartlepool Yacht club in Hartlepool has been given national recognition for its inclusion policy.

As a result, Olympic Legacy funding has allowed the local council to provide further access to a sport widely considered as unreachable by many.

Research released earlier this year showed participation numbers in boating and water sports had reached a seven-year high, added evidence the sport is on an upward curve.
