Home favourite Neil Robertson stormed into the quarter-finals of the Australian Goldfields Open in Bendigo with a whitewash of Jamie Jones.

The former world champion, looking for a second ranking tournament victory of the season after winning the Wuxi Classic in China last weekend, reeled off breaks of 103, 86, 140 and 80 to secure his passage in a 5-0 rout, and will meet Robert Milkins in the last eight.

Judd Trump joined Robertson in the next round after overcoming Scot Alan McManus.

Trump raced into a 3-0 lead before McManus hit back to win three of the next four frames, only to succumb to a break of 107 in the eighth to lose 5-3.

Ricky Walden stands between Trump and a semi-final berth after a 5-2 win against Martin Gould.

Walden compiled runs of 86 and 56 as he, by his own admission, played his way into the tournament.

Ebdon out

China's Xiao Guodong staged an impressive rearguard action to squeeze past Peter Ebdon in a contest which went to the final frame.

Xiao trailed 4-3 and by 61 points before dragging himself level with a 67 clearance, and was 46-0 behind in the decider when he hit back to book himself a quarter-final clash with Matthew Stevens.

Stuart Bingham eased past Mark Joyce 5-2 and will go head-to-head with Mark Davis, who dumped Shaun Murphy out of the tournament.

Bingham dominated the early stages to go 4-1 up before Murphy pegged him back to 4-3, but that was as good as it got for the former world champion as his involvement ended in the eighth frame.
