Seth Rollins has been forced to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after sustaining a knee injury that will rule him out for six to nine months.
Rollins tore his anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and medial meniscus during a match with Kane at a WWE live event in Dublin on Thursday night.
The Architect had been due to defend his title against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series, but a tournament will now take place at the pay-per-view to determine a new champion.
Rollins won the world title at WrestleMania 31 in March, cashing in his Money in the Bank contract during Reigns' one-on-one match with The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.
The Aerialist - also a former WWE Tag Team Champion - made his main roster debut at the 2012 edition of Survivor Series alongside Reigns and Dean Ambrose in The Shield.
Rollins and his team-mates would go on to defeat Evolution and The Wyatt Family before disbanding in 2014 when Rollins attacked Reigns and Ambrose and sided with The Authority.

WWE Survivor Series will be shown on Sky Sports Box Office (channel 491) and Sky Sports HD Box Office (channel 492) at 1am on Sunday, November 22 (Monday morning).
WWE Survivor Series will be repeated on Sky Sports Box Office (channel 491) but NOT Sky Sports HD Box Office (channel 492) between 9am, Monday, November 23 and 9pm, Tuesday, October 24.
Repeat showings will last for three hours, with the final showing STARTING at 9pm on Tuesday, October 24.
The event is priced at £19.95 for UK customers, €24.95 for viewers in the Republic of Ireland.
