Rappax driver holds off Razia in Bahrain for victory in Race 2
Tom Dillmann took his first ever GP2 win with victory in the sprint race at Round 3 of the series in Bahrain for Rappax.
The Frenchman held off Luiz Razia who was flying in the final stages to win by just one tenth of a second.
The Arden driver had looked after his tyres better, but couldn't find a way past - despite crawling all over the back of the Rappax car for the entire final lap.
Dillman had lucked into pole position by virtue of a time penalty issued to Felipe Nasr after the feature race, which promoted him to eighth in race 1.
Davide Valsecchi completed the podium after a fine drive through the field after the reverse grid had pushed him back to eighth on the grid, meaning the DAMS driver missed out on the chance to become the first driver in history to win four consecutive GP2 races.
Esteban Gutierrez recovered something from an otherwise disappointing weekend for Lotus with fourth, with Nasr coming through from 11th to finish fifth in the second DAMS car.
After another strong weekend in Bahrain Valsecchi has extended his Series lead and now has 107 points, 24 points in front of Razia. Gutierrez is third with 54 points, nine points ahead of Max Chilton. Leimer lies in fifth place with 41 points.
The fourth round of the 2012 GP2 Series season will take place in Barcelona, Spain in two weeks alongside the Formula One Grand Prix.
