Klay Thompson is wanted back by everyone at Golden State Warriors next season, says head coach Steve Kerr.

The shooting guard will be an unrestricted free agent after this season but much of the season-long focus has revolved around team-mate Kevin Durant, who also is a free agent.

Durant appears set to leave the organisation but Thompson's intentions are not as obvious, although Kerr says the Warriors are not worried by the situation.

"I know that everybody - coaches, management, ownership - everybody wants Klay back," Kerr said.

"I think the feeling is just, Klay wants to be here, we want Klay."

Thompson, who has seen the team become three-time champions since joining in 2011, has been quiet about the topic but recent speculation hints his decision will be based on money.

If the Warriors offer the five-year, $190m max contract, Thompson is expected to stay and continue his "Splash Brothers" partnership with Stephen Curry as the team moves from Oakland across to San Francisco.

If the offer is lower, Thompson could listen to other teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.

"I think it's just the only thing I've known professionally," Thompson recently told ESPN.

"I saw the dark days and now I've seen the glory days. And it's cool to see the process. You appreciate the work it takes to get there. It's simple. I just appreciate how long it took to get to the mountaintop."
