LeBron James has admitted his patience is already starting to wear thin with some of the mistakes being made by his young Los Angeles Lakers team-mates.

Much had been expected of the Lakers this season, after their free-agent splash to land LeBron's services over the summer, but they have struggled to a 2-5 start.

Defensively, the Lakers rate among the worst teams in the NBA - giving up 122.3 points per game - and James, who admitted he would have to act as a mentor with his new team, hinted his frustration was starting to boil over.

"We talk about patience but you can't have recurrence of the same thing," James said.

"If you are doing the same things over and over and over and expecting the same result then that's insanity.

"So we have to get better. We can't keep having the same mistakes over and over.
