There's nothing quite like pouring it on against an old team and LeBron James enjoyed his best night in a Laker uniform on Sunday with a brilliant 51-point displayin the 113-97 win over the Miami Heat.
James hit 19 of his 31 shots, including six of eight from beyond the arc to register the 12th 50-point game of his career and move past legend Allen Iverson for the sixth most in NBA history.
The 33-year-old also became just the fifth player in league history to have a 50-plus game for three different teams.
"I put a lot of work into my craft," he said after the game. "I've been shooting a lot of threes, a lot of mid-range, trying to get my timing back and it's good to see when the work pays off."
Lakers coach Luke Walton said he knew his star man was on his game from the very first seconds.
"From the jump ball, he was going. He was in attack mode, and he was making shots," he said.
"When players are as good as LeBron and have that night, it just looks easy for them. It's not easy, but they make it look easy because they're that good."
Next up for LeBron is another former team as the Lakers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, live on Sky Sports.
