Memphis Grizzlies sign Joakim Noah on one-year deal

Joakim Noah in action for the New York Knicks in 2017

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed center Joakim Noah for the remainder of the season.

Noah signed for the veteran minimum of $1.73m, according to ESPN, after passing a physical.

The 33-year-old Noah is a two-time All-Star and was the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2013-14.

However, Noah played in just 82 games over the past three seasons due to multiple injuries, a 20-game suspension for using a banned substance, and last season's falling out with the New York Knicks.

Noah played in seven games with New York last season and did not see any action after getting into a practice altercation with coach Jeff Hornacek in January.

The Knicks released Noah in October with two seasons and $37.8m remaining on a four-year, $72m deal.

The 11-year NBA veteran spent his first nine seasons with the Chicago Bulls.
