LeBron James had an attempted game-winning shot emphatically blocked by Mario Hezonja as the New York Knicks sealed a dramatic victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday evening.
With the Lakers trailing 124-123 and the shot clock turned off for the final possession, James drove to his left but failed to get any separation from Hezonja, who swatted his fadeaway attempt away.
The moment compounded the worst shooting quarter of James' 16-year professional career, as he went 4-for-15 from the field - with the 11 missed shots representing the most he has ever missed in a quarter, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
For the Lakers, who are set to miss the playoffs, it was one of the worst defeats of a season full of them, as the Knicks came from 11 down with 3:44 remaining to close with a 13-1 run.
Although James led the Lakers with 33 points and eight assists, he was far from his best, finishing the game unsuccessful with all six of his attempts from three-point range.
