The Los Angeles Lakers are set to interview Tyronn Lue for a second time on Wednesday about their coaching vacancy.
Lue, who met with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka last Friday, will sit down with team co-owner Jeanie Buss for the first time, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday.
Lue, who turns 42 on May 3, compiled a 128-83 record and won the 2016 NBA championship as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was fired this season after an 0-6 start to this season.
Lue is not the only candidate linked to the job formerly held by Luke Walton, who parted ways with the Lakers earlier this month and became head coach of the Sacramento Kings.
The Lakers were also reportedly scheduled to meet with Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard on Tuesday. They are also planning a second meeting with Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams, the former head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans.
Williams is also said to be a contender to fill the Phoenix Suns' vacancy, after they fired head coach Igor Kokoskov on Monday.
Lue already has a relationship with Lakers star LeBron James from their time together in Cleveland.
Los Angeles finished a disappointing 37-45 in 2018-19, its first season with James on the roster, and have not made the playoffs since the 2012-13 season.
