The Chicago Bulls are shutting down injured rookies Wendell Carter Jr. and Chandler Hutchison for the rest of the season.
The move to shelve both players was posted on Twitter by Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations John Paxson.
Carter Jr., a first-round pick (seventh overall) by the Bulls in 2018 out of Duke, hasn't played since January 15 because of a left thumb injury.
He underwent surgery on January 21 to repair the ulnar collateral ligament and was expected to be sidelined for eight to 12 weeks.
The 6ft 10in center averaged 10.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in 44 games, all starts.
Hutchison, a forward who has an injury to his right toe, also played in 44 games (14 starts), averaging 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds.
After playing at Boise State, he was the 22nd overall pick of the 2018 draft by the Bulls.
