Loughborough Lightning’s 100 per cent start to the Vitality Superleague season was maintained with a one-sided victory at Team Northumbria on Saturday.

The visitors ran out comprehensive 70-47 winners to record an eighth consecutive win, leaving them with a six-point cushion at the top of the Superleague with Surrey Storm trailing in second place.

Storm's chances at overhauling Lightning were dealt a blow with a surprise 65-59 defeat at fifth-placed Sirens.

Wasps have drawn level on points with Storms after securing a 62-40 win against Celtic Dragons, who are still propping up the table after failing to earn a single point in eight matches.

Manchester Thunder occupy the fourth play-off spot, five points clear of Sirens, after beating Team Bath 48-41. Hertfordshire Mavericks defeated Severn Stars 48-45.
