England Roses made it three wins in a row at the Commonwealth Games on Sunday after a narrow 55-49 win over debutants Uganda.
Tracey Neville's side ran out winners by six points in a hard-fought game against Uganda's 'She Cranes', who are African champions.
Captain Peace Proscovia was the main threat to England with Uganda still on a high after registering their first-ever win against Malawi 54-52 on Saturday.
The Roses had already thrashed Scotland in their opener before a one-sided beating of Malawi on Friday and Neville made a couple of changes, bringing in Ama Agbeze at Goal Defence and Serena Guthrie at Centre.
Some silky shooting from Jo Harten enabled England to open up an early 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Uganda closed the gap to eight goals by half-time.
They continued their momentum after the break, although Natalie Haythornthwaite and Helen Housby made sure England went into the final 15 minutes with the score at 42-36.
The gap was down to just five goals with just 12 minutes of the match remaining and with a tense atmosphere in the closing stages at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Roses did enough to maintain their 100 per cent record.
