Highly-rated teenage defensive star Zara Everitt has swapped benecos Mavericks for Loughborough Lightning.
The busy summer off-season continues in the Vitality Superleague and Loughborough have taken their roster to six with their second new arrival after the capture of Jess Shaw was announced earlier this week.
Everitt already has a couple of seasons with Mavericks under her belt having made her debut at 16 and, as part of the England Futures programme, has progressed to captain the England Roses during the recent U19 tour of New Zealand.
The 18-year-old is equally comfortable at both goal and wing defence and will combine her Lightning career with the first year of Law studies at Oxford University.
"I'm really excited to start training with Loughborough Lightning and get ready to take on the 2019 Superleague season," Everitt said.
"Lightning have proven themselves to be a competitive squad and I can't wait to become part of it, and take on this new challenge!"
Captain Nat Panagarry was the first name confirmed by new Loughborough head coach Sara Bayman and as well as the two new faces Ella Clark, Hannah Joseph and Vicki Oyesola have all been confirmed for the new season.
"Zara comes to Loughborough on the back of an excellent season with Mavericks," said Bayman.
"She joins a young, ball-hungry defensive end which promises to be electrifyingly quick. The excitement around Zara is about how good she is already, whilst still so young - she has the potential to be a breakout star of the league."
