Emma Dovey has signed a new deal to remain at Manchester Thunder for the 2019 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

The experienced defender will lead Thunder, who reached the semi-finals last term under head coach Karen Greig, in her third season as captain.

Dovey, who took over from Sara Bayman as skipper in 2016, received a call-up to the England Roses Fast5 World Series squad as they bid to defend their title in Australia at the end of the month, live on Sky Sports.

"I'm back again! I'm really looking forward to this season, my third as captain," Dovey said.

"I'm looking forward to playing again with some of our old faces and hope to see you all down at Belle Vue, our new home arena."

Dovey, 27, has played her entire senior career at Thunder and follows Caroline O'Hanlon in committing to the club for another season.

Manchester Thunder managing director Debbie Hallas said: "We were keen to get Emma back in the Thunder dress for next season as her experience and leadership is a vital component in making the squad gel together.
