Ama Agbeze has been voted as your Sportswoman of the Month for January.

The England and Loughborough Lightning netballer claimed a whopping 71 per cent of the public vote to finish ahead of Richmond hooker Emma Croker, with tennis star Johanna Konta coming in third.

"I always say I never win anything so it's bit of a surprise but I just think it's fantastic for netball because it shows netball has a lot of support and backing," Agbeze told Tuesday's Sportswomen show on Sky Sports News HQ.

"If people hadn't voted for me I wouldn't have won so I'm proud for myself and just really excited about the prospects that it has for netball."

Agbeze was a standout performer in last month's Test triple-header against Australia, earning the England Player of the Series award after a series of sterling displays.

"My recent highlight was putting in consistent performances against Australia who are world No 1," she added.

"The fact it was Netball Month on Sky has really put netball on the map in the UK so it's just been a good January and a good start to the year."
