Long-time friends Tommy Coyle and Luke Campbell will fight each other in the summer.

Promoter Eddie Hearn, who looks after both of them, has revealed he wants the showdown to take place at the KC Stadium in Hull, in the summer.

Luke is a mate of mine and it will be a bit weird but we can put our friendship aside for 36 minutes and go at it like two warriors
Tommy Coyle

And both Coyle and Campbell were the first to agree it will happen after they both came through tough tests on an electric Saturday night in the Hull Arena.

Olympic gold medallist Campbell took Daniele Brizuela apart in five rounds, while his fellow lightweight knocked former world title challenger Michael Katsidis out in two.

They pair then met in the ring and left the crowd no doubt where they are heading.

If the Hull people want to see me and you put on a performance for them, let's get it on!
Luke Campbell

"It has to happen," Coyle told Sky Sports.

"Luke is a mate of mind and it will be a bit weird but we can put our friendship aside for 36 minutes and go at it like two warriors.

More from Boxing

"We're lads from Hull at the end of the day and the fans want it, they pay our wages, let's give them it."

Campbell, who is two years older, described Coyle's win as "fantastic" and sat ringside to watch it.

And he was the first to thank the Hull support earlier in the night and pulled no punches.

"If the Hull people want to see me and you put on a performance for  them, let's get it on!" he said.

"That's what we'll do mate."

Promoter Hearn said that both will have at least one more fight each before theire local showdown, almost a year to the day that Carl Froch's second figth with George Groves filled Wembley Stadium.
