Mixed doubles pairings to be decided during the Games

Samantha Stosur and Lleyton Hewitt will both be part of Australia's squad for the 2012 Olympics. Reigning US Open champion Stosur, ranked 5th in the world and set to appear at her third Games in London, had automatically qualified for the singles. However she will also be in action in the doubles, pairing up with Casey Dellacqua. The other team representing Australia will be Jarmila Gajdosova and Anastasia Rodionova. "The Olympics are really special and I love being a part of a team and competing for my country," said Stosur. "The memories I have from past Olympics are some of my most cherished, so I am really excited for London."

Wildcard

Former world number one Hewitt, meanwhile, has been handed a wildcard to the men's singles. He will be joined by automatic pick Bernard Tomic, who has failed to pass the second round in the last 12 tournaments he has appeared in. Both men fell at the first hurdle at Wimbledon - former champion Hewitt was beaten in three sets by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga while the out-of-form Tomic was humbled by Belgian wildcard David Goffin. Australia was not offered a men's doubles berth, much to the disappointment of Hewitt. "I'm disappointed not to make the doubles," the 31-year-old said. "I guess playing as much Davis Cup doesn't count for anything. Mixed doubles will return to the Olympic program in 2012 for the first time since 1924 but pairings will not be determined until during the Games.
