Great Britain's Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland missed out on a Winter Olympics medal in the ice dance competition as they finished 11th.

After qualifying in 10th, the pair failed to finish in the top 10 after their free dance with Canada's Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir winning gold with a world record score of 206.07.

Virtue and Moir, who have been skating together since they were young children, edged out French duo Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron by less than a point to regain their Olympic ice dance title.

USA pair Maia Shibutani and Alex Shibutani took the bronze medal which made it a repeat of the top three of last year's World Figure Skating Championships.

"The audience were great, we had a great skate and soaked it all up and I'm happy with the whole experience.
