Lewis-Francis and Ennis both disqualified in their races

Usain Bolt enjoyed a comfortable victory in the 100 metres at the Diamond League meeting in Oslo - but there was disappointment for two Brits. Jamaican Bolt, who had arrived at the stadium in a faux-vintage dragster with sparks flying out of the back, clocked a time of 9.79 seconds to edge out Asafa Powell, who recorded a season's best 9.85s. However the news was not so good for Mark Lewis-Francis, as he was disqualified from the race due to a false start. The same happened to Jessica Ennis in the final of the 100m hurdles after she had qualified for the race by finishing third in a her heat.

Pearson victorious

Australian Sally Pearson took the victory in a time of 12.49 ahead of American Kristi Catlin and Britain's Tiffany Porter. Meanwhile, Dai Greene could only manage fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 48.98, having coming in to the event off the back of an illness, with Javier Culson cruising to victory in 47.94 - the fastest time of the year so far. But there was better news for another Welshman, with Gareth Warburton winning the 800m in one minute 44.98 seconds, not only a Welsh record but also inside the Olympic 'A' standard. Milcah Chemos won the women's steeplechase in a blistering time of 9:07.15, the fourth fastest time in history, while Britain's Eilish McColgan clocked a new personal best of 9:38.45 to come home in ninth place.
