Snow flurry means men's event is postponed

Tuesday's men's Olympic super-combined skiing event has been postponed following heavy overnight snowfall at the Whistler venue. Following several days of interruptions to the alpine programme action finally got underway on Monday with Dider Defago claiming gold in the men's downhill. But the super-combined, composed of a downhill followed by slalom, is now likely to be moved to Friday after further snowfall on the Dave Murray run. It is the third race that has had to be postponed following the delay of the men's downhill and the women's super-combined. The women's programme is now poised to get under way with the downhill on Wednesday, but although training had to be cancelled on Tuesday, they were able to practice the day before. Weather experts say that following the deluge, a ridge of high pressure is likely bring optimal racing conditions to Whistler "for the next seven days".
