Tickets for QIPCO Champions Day at Ascot selling fast

Only a small number of Premier tickets are now available for QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday week.

The day is the only event in the British racing calendar to include four Group One races and has attracted some of the most exciting horses in training including Europe's Champion Miler Solow, Champion Sprinter, Muhaarar and Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs.

Racing starts at 1245 with gates opening at 10.30am.

Legendary 11-time Champion Jockey Lester Piggott and current Champion Richard Hughes will be taking part in an autograph signing session for race fans before making the presentation to the inaugural winner of the Stobart Champion Flat Jockey title in the in the Parade Ring at 12.15pm.

Aspiring younger jockeys will be able to test out their skills in the Kids Love the Races and Pony Club zones and there is the chance to meet a retired racehorse and take part in behind the scenes tours of the racecourse from 10.30am. And, following on from the success of last year, 2,500 students will be able to attend for FREE.

The first race of the day is the Group 2 QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup which is followed by four Group 1 contests and Europe's richest mile handicap - together accounting for a purse of £4.1million. 

Rod Street, Chief Executive of British Champions Series said: "QIPCO British Champions Day is now in its fifth year and we are incredibly excited about this year's event which is shaping up to be a special day. Some of the most talented horses in training are set to battle it out on track for a record-breaking prize fund of £4.1 million and, as well as celebrating the horses, it will also be the day on which we crown the Stobart Champion Flat Jockey, together with Champion Apprentice and leading Owner. With so much else happening off track as well, it will be a fitting finale to the European Flat racing season."

Once the action on the racecourse has finished, attention will turn to the Official After-Party where BBC Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson will get the crowd dancing before award-winning British artist Paloma Faith, will bring the day to a thrilling close when she hits the decks.

Rugby fans keen to catch the World Cup Quarter Final will also be catered for, with dedicated big-screens on the Grandstand Lawns showing all the action from Twickenham when it kicks off at 4pm.

As well as some of the world's best sporting action, QIPCO British Champions Day is the perfect family event with young people under 18 admitted free of charge. However, with premier tickets set to sell-out shortly the only remaining adult tickets will be Grandstand (£30).
