Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton has emerged unscathed after being unseated from Satanic Beat on her third ride under Rules at Newbury.

Olympic cycling champion Victoria Pendleton appeared to emerge unscathed after being unseated from Satanic Beat on her third competitive ride at Newbury.

She walked away after taking a tumble in the final stages of the Rayner Bosch Car Service Handicap (for Lady Amateur Riders) over a mile and a half.

Satanic Beat, trained by Phil Middleton, had been backed down to 4/1 favourite for the 14-runner event but was out of contention when parting company with his rider just before the winning post.

"I'm fine," the 35-year-old told the Racing Post.

"I lost my balance and couldn't regain it. It's so annoying but it won't put me off."

Pendleton had her mount in a good position for most of the race and was briefly second early in the straight, but Satanic Beat had no more to give as Syncopate (13/2) went on to land the spoils for rider Gina Andrews and trainer Pam Sly.

Pendleton made her racecourse debut in a charity event at Newbury in early July, finishing down the field aboard Mighty Mambo, and almost made a dream first start as a fully-fledged amateur when beaten just a head aboard Royal Etiquette at Ripon in August.

However, she was unable to get competitive aboard the same horse at Beverley last month.
