Connections of Shalaa remain hopeful the dual Group One winner will make it back to the track in time for the Qipco British Champions Sprint at Ascot in October.

The three-year-old, winner of last season's Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes, has been absent this season after he sustained a pelvic injury earlier in the campaign.

After having spent time recuperating at the National Stud in Newmarket, the son of Invincible Spirit is back with trainer John Gosden.

Harry Herbert, racing manager to owners Al Shaqab Racing, said: "Shalaa is back cantering with John Gosden.

"If he has a completely uninterrupted preparation, then there is a possibility that he might come back for the Champions Sprint - so long as John and the yard are happy with him.
