Lil Rockerfeller will run in Chepstow's Totepool Silver Trophy on Saturday rather than the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket.

The five-year-old made giant strides last winter over hurdles, winning the National Spirit at Fontwell which persuaded connections to supplement for the Champion Hurdle.

He could only finish seventh over two miles and will have the World Hurdle as his aim this season, but trainer Neil King is keen to get him out this weekend.

"He's definitely going to Chelpstow, the Cesarewitch is a race I'd love to win but the Chepstow race is for him," said King.

"He's in very good order but whether he can continue his improvement we won't know until he runs.

"I've always wanted to step him up in trip, he's a strong stayer, but I didn't think running a five-year-old in the World Hurdle against Thistlecrack, who looked nigh on unbeatable, would be the right thing to do.

"So we went for the Champion Hurdle because at the time there were question marks over a few but as it happened they all ran to form and we finished seventh.

"He was flat out the whole way but he's had a nice long break and we're keen to get him going again."

Lil Rockerfeller is a 12/1 chance with Sky Bet for the Silver Trophy.
