Master Carpenter needs rain to run at Sandown

Master Carpenter may not take his chance in the bet365 Mile at Sandown on Friday unless any rain arrives earlier than expected.
Trainer Rod Millman has had this Group Two race in mind for some time as the starting point for his smart performer but feels the British weather is set to scupper his plan.
However, he will wait until the day of the race before making a decision as to the participation of the colt, who won the Listed Heron Stakes over the course and distance last May ahead of Group Three success in France a month later.
"We were hoping the rain might come but it doesn't look like it is now, so he's not 100% certain to run," said the Cullompton handler.
"I'll wait and make a decision on the day. The rain was forecast to get there on Friday but it looks like it's going to be Saturday now. With the British weather you can never be 100% certain.
"We would hope for a bit of rain before he ran.
"This was his early-season target and we've been trying to get him ready for it, but the weather has beat us a little bit.
"He is entered in some good races, but we really wanted to see how he went in this before we made our mind up where to go."
Master Carpenter holds an entry in the Group One Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on May 16.
