Andre Fabre is looking forward to the showdown between his Prix du Jockey Club winner New Bay and Investec Derby hero Golden Horn at Sandown on Saturday week.

The two Classic winners are set to clash in the Coral-Eclipse at the Esher course on July 4, when they will take on their elders for the first time.

Fabre reports New Bay, owned by Khalid Abdullah, to be in fine shape since his victory over Highland Reel in the French Derby at Chantilly at the end of May.

"The horse is in good form and the plan is to run in the Eclipse. It will be interesting to take on the Epsom Derby winner," he said.

"Our horse won the Prix du Jockey Club well and the winner of the English Derby was quite impressive as well. They are two nice colts.

"He stayed on strongly and we are really pleased with how he has come out of the race."

Should New Bay prevail he would be the first French-trained winner of the 10-furlong midsummer showpiece since Javelot in 1960.

Golden Horn's trainer John Gosden is also set to run Prince of Wales's Stakes third Western Hymn.

He said of the latter: "Western Hymn ran a fine race at Royal Ascot in the Prince of Wales Stakes, the ground was on the fast side for him.

"He loves Sandown Park and it would be our intention to run."

Gosden added of Golden Horn: "Golden Horn is in good form and has pleased us since his win in the Investec Derby. The target has always been the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown and we look forward to running him there."

Golden Horn is the 4/5 favourite with Sky Bet, who have cut New Bay to 4/1 from 5/1 and offer Western Hymn at 12/1.
