Rae Guest has appointed former Group One-winning jockey Paul Eddery as his new assistant trainer.
The 52-year-old has been helping with training duties at the Newmarket handler's Chestnut Tree Stables for the past three weeks.
During a career in the saddle spanning more than three decades, Eddery enjoyed a number of Pattern race victories both at home and abroad.
His most notable successes came in the July Cup, a race he won on two occasions, firstly with the Alex Scott-trained Cadeaux Genereux in 1989, before repeating the feat aboard Owington, trained by Geoff Wragg, in 1994.
Eddery said: "I had spent a bit of time riding out work in America but I wanted more of a role in a yard rather than just riding work.
"I approached Rae and had a chat with him and it seemed like a good opportunity to take up. It should hopefully be second nature to me."
While Eddery is looking forward to to his role, Guest is equally delighted to have secured the services of the ex-rider.
Guest said: "It is great to have someone with his experience in the yard. I have known Paul for a long time and you won't meet a nicer person."
