Richard Hannon and Mark Johnston contest Dick Hern Trophy at Goodwood

Richard Hannon has entered 21 horses for the Season Finale fixture at Goodwood on Sunday October 11, in a bid to secure the Dick Hern Trophy for the leading trainer at the racecourse in 2015.
But Hannon may not have it all his own way as his closest rival in the competition, Mark Johnston, has 12 horses entered across six races on the card. Johnston sits just four winners behind Hannon in the trophy race, so he could pip the current leader at the post.
Hannon has had 14 winners at Goodwood this season, while Johnston has had 10.
Their nearest rival is Mick Channon, but with four winners to his name and entries in only five races, he is unable to catch the two in front.
The fixture has received a very strong entry across the board, with 208 horses entered into the seven race card.
The first race, off at 2.00pm, is the Alderbrook Stakes for National Hunt jockeys and featured among the entries is Burning Desire, who could be a first runner at Goodwood for Richard Hughes.
The three-time champion jockey retired from race riding on the final day of the Qatar Goodwood Festival to become a trainer and will be hoping to continue his success at the track in his new career. Hughes won the Alderbrook Stakes as a rider last year, having held a National Hunt license at the time.
Also entered in the Alderbrook Stakes is Ya Hafed, a horse better known to many as 'Nobby.'
He has been a regular feature in the popular Facebook videos of 'Wocket Woy and Batch,' which follow the joke exploits of jump jockey Mattie Batchelor and two horses from the East Sussex stable of Sheena West.
