The New One is set to make his seasonal reappearance in the williamhill.com Hurdle at Kempton on Sunday for the third year running.
Nigel Twiston-Davies' stable star has successfully blown away the cobwebs in this Listed contest for the last two years and looks like being long odds-on to make it a hat-trick.
The New One is among eight entries for the two-mile contest after the race was reopened.
The trainer's son, Sam Twiston-Davies, has partnered the seven-year-old in all his 20 starts and confirmed he will be in the plate on Sunday.
There were no complications with the booking as his boss, trainer Paul Nicholls, is not represented.
"I've spoken to Paul and we don't have anything in the race, so hopefully it will be a good start to the season for him," Twiston-Davies told At The Races.
"The New One is probably the reason where I am today. He's got me to the stage I'm at and gave me the confidence to be able to ride for Paul.
"I truly believe in that horse and in my dad. I feel dreadfully unlucky in the fact that he got beat in that first Champion Hurdle. I really do hope that wasn't the one he missed out on."
The New One should have a simple task as he is rated 24lb and upwards superior to his potential rivals.
They include the Nick Williams-trained Hint Of Mint, who was runner-up last year.
The Twiston-Davies stable have a back-up in Red Riverman, while others in contention are Stephanie Frances, Hold The Bucks, Landscape, Mr Lando and Rayvin Black.
