Richard Fahey provides a horse-by-horse guide for Racing Post Trophy day

I'm very excited to be having by first runner at the Breeders' Cup with Birchwood heading to the Juvenile Turf.

Godolphin are a very well organised team and they have made my life very easy in organising the trip.

The colt is a very good, strong two-year-old. There has to be a question mark over whether he'll stay the trip but around two turns he'd have a chance of doing so. He's in very good form and we're pleased with him before he heads out there.

Another two-year-old with a big-race target is Donjuan Triumphant. You had to be impressed with his victory at Maisons-Laffitte last Friday and he'll head back to France for the Group One Criterium International at Saint-Cloud on Saturday week.

He is now rated 117 and deserves a crack at the top level. He's a horse we've always liked but it's well documented he was keen in the early stages of his career and doing everything wrong. We used his early races to educate him and settle him down and it's starting to bear fruit.

He's becoming very professional and is an exciting prospect. He looks like a monster and galloped like one at Maisons-Laffitte. He's another I'm looking forward to seeing in action again.

The major yearling sales in the UK and Ireland are now over and I do find them extremely tough. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy with what we've bought over the last two or three weeks, but we must have looked at over 900 horses during that time - and that's no exaggeration.

I enjoy it very much but you're then looking at 12-hour sales days after all that prep work and it does get draining. But if you want winners in 2016 this is where you're going to find them. I could spot the good ones - or should I say supposed good ones - but couldn't afford them but the great thing about or job is you can still find bargains if you work hard enough.

Of the good two-year-olds from this year, Ribchester cost €105,000, Birchwood 77,000 guineas, Donjuan Triumphant 30,000 and Mr Lupton only 15.000. I hope we've got some new additions to follow in their hoofprints next year but it's all about the dream at this early stage.

One thing we do know is that Jack Garrity narrowly lost out to Tom Marquand in the battle to be champion apprentice. I felt a bit frustrated but didn't give him the option to ride at Catterick on the final day of the title race even though we thought we might have a good day there.

I still think I made the right decision in taking Jack to Ascot to ride in a Group One. He's a hardworking lad who will continue to do very well and being champion apprentice wouldn't make any difference at all as to whether he's going to be a success in future years.

Finally, before I move onto the Saturday team I had no idea I was in contention to break the record for most winners in a calendar year until very recently. I hadn't given it a moment's thought and we are going to be a little lighter on runners form now with many horses being roughed off for the winter.

We will have a team for the all-weather though and if we do get to the record that would be great. As with all of these things if it happens, it happens.

So onto the Saturday team and Return Of The Mak is first up in the Worthington's Whizz Kidz Stakes at Newbury. He's a horse we like and I wasn't at all surprised to see him win at Redcar first time. Clearly he needs to take a big step forward here and it might be asking a lot at this stage of his career but he does have plenty of ability.

Mica Mika is also in action on the same card in the Bathwick Tyres Handicap. I do think he's badly handicapped. He finished second at Epsom two starts ago before stepping up in grade and running like the 16-1 chance he was in against progressive types at Nottingham next time.

I just don't think he's a 90 horse but if the others are all badly handicapped too he'd have a chance as he will love the ground, the trip is right up his street and Paul Hanagan gets a great tune out of him.

Our other runners at Doncaster.

El Viento is running out of his skin at the moment and you could argue he's been a little unlucky on his last two starts. He's up in class for the betdaq.com 2% Commission Handicap and needs to step up again but I'm pleased with him and he is in terrific form right now.

We also run Arctic Feeling who surprised me a little when winning at Catterick last week as I was thinking of finishing him for the year. He's a horse who is always hard to predict but it was a good performance and a repeat of the same would see him competitive.

Bonds Choice has had a few problems and could just need the run in the crownhotel-bawtry.com Apprentice Jockeys' Training Series Final Handicap. It's great to have her back and she's capable of winning races. I hope she stays right and does just that for her owner as she's home bred.

Theos Lolly is a good hardy horse. I was a little surprised he was beaten at Wolverhampton last time but the winner there might be ok. My fellow goes in the betdaq.com - Serious About Racing Nursery and should run well again.
