The race to be crowned Go Racing In Yorkshire Top Yorkshire Flat Jockey supported by Sky Bet, is set to go down to the wire.

Sportinglife.com columnist Richard Fahey wrapped up the Top Yorkshire Trainer Title some weeks ago but with just two qualifying meetings left, nothing can separate David Allan and Paul Mulrennan in the jockeys' competition.

The pair are tied at the top of the table with 47 winners apiece but Allan is suspended for the meeting at Redcar on Tuesday which could allow his title rival to steal a march.

Allan has topped the table for the last month but a tremendous finish to the season has seen Mulrennan take the race down to the wire.

Sky Bet's racing PR Manager Michael Shinners said: "It's been incredibly close all season and with two meetings left it's now between David Allan and Paul Mulrennan.

"With David not riding at Redcar you would have to think that Paul has the edge, but either way it looks set to go right down to the wire at Doncaster on Saturday."

Mulrennan certainly has ample opportunity at Redcar with six mounts on an eight race card including, ironically, Dew Pond for trainer Tim Easterby for whom Allan has ridden 33 winners from almost 300 rides in 2015.

Allan has ridden the Motivator gelding in seven of his 12 career starts, including when the pair were successful over course and distance in August.

The Go Racing In Yorkshire season culminates at Doncaster on Saturday and the final race that Mulrennan and Allan will be able to ride in is the November Handicap, the sixth race of seven on the card.

The Go Racing in Yorkshire Top Jump Jockey for last season was yet another title annexed by the all-conquering - and now retired - AP McCoy.
